Teh hubby IS hashing out the From Russia With Lust script, which is getting to be quite long. As a way to kill time and keep some promotion going, he allowed me to make a few sequences out of context, which will ostensibly be integrated into the comic later. Since we're playing up The Class Menagerie sequel angle, I thought it would be fun to try and feature some of those characters since they'll all mostly be important in FRWL in some way. I guess this makes these technically the first CM comics in...eighteen years?
Jeff is in mentor mode again, this time with Mikey, who is currently successful and active, but (of course) still faltering socially. So, Jeff is trying to take him to the Hangout to meet more people...and you can guess how that goes.

Oh Jeff, it's not easy being a mentor but gosh you try and for that we love you all the more. <3 Also, yes. Normal in a tracksuit in a bar. Though he'd sure grab everyone's attention. Oh Mikey. X3

I got such a high when I saw this in my inbox. XD But seeing Jeff mentoring Mikey makes me remember how once I thought i.s.o. could have been a spinoff starring the roo (both Mikey and Cody have a fair amount in common; both fluffy, into sports and dancing, are heavily closeted; but in the end I'm glad you came up with Cody instead... though I still find the image of Mikey having a make-out session with Jake to be most appealing.
Also, this makes me think of a relatively new idea I came up with for my fic: Mikey discovers that Roger smokes. *However*, Roger is not a chain-smoker, far from it. Rather, he smokes one cigarette every 6 months, and that's it. It's like clockwork for him. I can see Mikey being torn between his disgust for the (evil) smoking, and admiration for the GSD being able to schedule and discipline himself like that. XD
I even imagined a scene where Roger blows a smoke-ring, and then takes a hold of Mike's goatee, saying, "I can teach you if you like. It's all in the *tongue*."
"...Roger, you're giving me mixed feelings..."

I could never have built a comic around Mikey, I don't relate to that mindset enough to understand how it ticks. I have good friends like that, but it'd still be just observational. ^ ^;;
THAT would be a lot of mixed emotions from him. I assume twice a year would only merit lecturing and demands to cleanse thoroughly afterwards, probably just easier to hide it XD

It's funny, because I've done a lot of "observing" myself while writing my fanfic. Heck, even Roger himself "observes" Mikey, only the first conclusion he arrives to is that the roo is lonely and too socially awkward to properly make friends, and decides to put up with his "eccentricities" in order to help him out. Thankfully, the GSD already has a lot of good habits that Mikey approves of (getting up early to jog, hitting the gym, taking vitamins, being a parkour artist, being into martial arts and various sports, being a go-getter for his future, loving singing and dancing) so the roo doesn't ever have to lecture his roommate on being productive... though he does learn the hard way that Roger *NEEDS* to sleep in on weekends.
But Mikey ends up observing Roger too: Mikey once told Lisa that he hates "unsolvables", and he can't quite figure out Roger. So he ends up thinking quite a lot about the GSD, who can go through a dizzying array of emotions within the space of a single conversation, and who shares many traits with Mikey and yet gets along just fine with nearly everybody... and perhaps most importantly, who can be so open about his own orientation and somehow not get regulated to being "that gay guy", just as Mikey fears he'd be.
At some point, the unsolvable would become solved: Mikey realizes he's attracted to Roger... though I'm still deciding just how the roo would realize that. I'm tempted to have it be like how Legosi realized his feelings for Haru on "Beastars": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK2FsZ_bc0w
(Actually, "Beastars" inspired quite a few kinky moments between Mikey and Roger )
But as for the smoking, it's a good thing Roger gets turned on by Mikey's lectures and usually shuts him up with a big kiss - although in this case, I'm sure Mikey would resist long enough to insist on those "mouth cleanings."
"Why don't YOU clean my mouth, Mikey... with your TONGUE." ;D
Though Roger would eventually respect the roo's wishes and brush/use mouthwash... and then say, "Now that my mouth is squeaky clean, I'd like you to dirty it up, Mikey."
