Eh, might as well upload this, too.
Jarndrekki's name comes from old Norse, meaning "Iron Serpent/Dragon", he serves as the faithful companion to my Battle-smith Artificer, a Dwarf by the name of Elokksin (Translates as "Bright Mind").
Now, the rules say the Construct takes a form that has 2-4 legs, but that can be glossed over.
I MAY try play a character that is basically a snake if I can get away with stretching the rules to cover it, like a Yuan-ti illusionist

They dont eeven need sleep, and are immune to Exhaustion. You now have a Permanent Sentry to watch over camp while you sleep, or rather, help spot spot things (It can take the Help or Search action in combat, so ADV to perception on the guy thats doing the Watch if your DM allows you to give it "Standing Orders"
I'll see about posting him tomorrow. Essentially:
BITE 1d8+Str Piercing (1h Battle Axe)
Shields on both forearms (so his hands are filled as if he was wielding the axe and 1 shield mechanically)
Chain mail barding for 16+2 AC for shield.
Ranged weapon TAIL BARB: 1d6+str Javelin, X per day or 1d8 Dex as if longbow.
To get around, just claim he's the rangers ''Pet''
or thay could be the balloon themselves :pI could have worked in a lot more detail and featuress, but figured it enough for a Token
I Like to think all artificer Constructs have some level of AI, and so will act like a more passive and friendly version of the animal or creature they represent.
They also get a second Construct, a tiny one, that acts like a familiar. And a spell that can be cast to create temporary tiny companions. Figured to annoy my DM by having 4 constructs at once, since he already doesnt like how many things ive found a work around for with the Construct to his plans :P
And yeah, some amount of AI makes sense with them
Can certainly be fun to be the designated lateral problem solver~
It recieved an upgrade so its no longer a snakee (Its now a Large Dragon), but has received a little bit of a mind of its own... We played a magical chess game, and evrey player and ally NPC was on the board, VS the hostile NPCs on the other... Lets just say the Construct was a Rook and took the most valuable piece on the board that wasnt the King - thus ending the game, followed by an ominous sense of foreboding...
Im just going to turn around at one point and find the construct dripping blood from its jaws and a dead important plot NPC ahah
I already get a lot of leeway in the constructs actions, the main issue is thry can't really talk unless you spend much gold synthesising a system that can allow them a modicum of speech beyond Yes and No (Artificer can enchant tiny objects to emit noise or speech when touched)
But that's really not an issue for what the creature permanently following you and obeying your command.
It doesn't need food or water and if it takes damage can be repaired for free - saving out on costly health potions for the rest of the party.
Technically, it would be Rules-legal to create a Synth (Vader-San's ones), except with a more limited autonomy and intelligence.
...Also Jarndrekki here was built to help contain shitloads of Acid from a Jar of Alchemy. I imagine theres at least a "stomach" there
I think it would be fun to stress test how much acid Jarndrekki can hold.
Okay now I'm imagining one of these as a refrigerator! That would be awesome!
