Alex woke up and was not feeling good. His body ached all over and he felt extremely tired. He then left his room and hobbled around the house, looking for his caretaker. "Mommy/Daddy? Wheh awe chu?" ,he whined softly with a few coughs.

That's when Alex's caretaker came out of their bedroom with a worried look on their face. They had been awakened by the little kit's mews. "Awww. What's wrong Sweetie?" ,they cooed softly nuzzling and conforting the kit. Alex didn't say much, but let out some coughs and sneezes.

"Are you feeling okay Hun?" ,Alex's caretaker asked, placing a paw over the kits forehead. They then gasped in shock and worry. "Oh Dear! You're burning up!" ,they said concerned. That's when Alex coughed up a hairball and spit up a little.

"Goodness!" ,Alex's caretaker shouted in surprise. Alex whined softly with a groan. Now his tummy was bothering him along with his throat and cough. "We gotta get you some help right away." ,Alex's caretaker said, scooping up the sick little kit into her arms and running off to the car.

After a bit, they arrived at the hospital and entered the ER. A desk clerk was quick to assist the worried caretaker and handed her some paperwork to fill out. "Mommy/Daddy?" ,Alex asked in a weakened tone. "Shh. Rest now Sweetie." ,Alex's caretaker cooed, wiping some puke off Alex's muzzle.

A bit later, a nurse came in to take Alex in for a check up. "Mommy/Daddy I skehrd" ,Alex whined as he coughed a bit more. "Shh. I'm here with you." ,Alex's caretaker said. "So what brings you here Cutie? Not feeling well?" ,the nurse asked as she took Alex's vitals and wrote things down, entering data into a tablet.

The vitals didn't look too good for Alex. His heart rate, pulse rate, and temperature were extremly high, but his oxygen rate was dangerously low. However, it would be up to the doctor to decide the diagnosis and what treatments to administer. "Follow me please." ,the nurse said.

Alex's caretaker nodded, carrying Alex and following the nurse. She led them to a larger room with a door for privacy. "Please wait her til the doctor arrives. He'll be here shortly." ,she said. "Thank you very much." ,Alex's caretaker said to the nurse.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and in came, the doctor. He appeared to be a Sylveon, but one that was much younger than the other workers at the hospital. "Hello there. My name is Dr. Sylveon." ,said the doctor with a smile. "Pleased to meet you Doctor. Thank you for seeing us." ,said Alex's caretaker.

"I'm always here to help those in need." ,Doctor Sylveon said with a smile. "Now what seems to be the problem today?" Alex let out a cough and sneeze. He also spit up a bit on himself and his caretaker's lap.

"Oh my. Looks pretty bad." ,Dr. Sylveon said. "I...I skehrd." ,Alex whined with a few coughs and sneezes. "It's okay Cutie. You're in good paws." ,said Dr. Sylveon, putting on a pair of beige latex medical gloves. "Now open wide and say 'ahh' please."

Alex nodded and did as he was told. Then Dr. Sylveon grabbed a long throat swab and swabbed the inside of the kit's throat. Alex flinched for a moment, but quickly stopped when the swab was removed. "Good little kitten." ,said Dr. Sylveon as he put the swab away in a specimen bag and placed it in a lab specimen storage unit.

"Now deep breath in." ,he said putting on his stethoscope and lifting up Alex's shirt. "Wut chu doin?" ,Alex asked. "Just take a deep breath in. I have to check your heart and lungs." ,said Dr. Sylveon. Alex nodded and did as he was told.

Dr. Sylveon listened carefully, moving the end of sthethoscope around Alex's chest. He tapped it lightly, waiting for a noise response. "Sumtin wawn?" ,Alex asked nervously. "Not sure til I give you a full examination. You seem smart for such a young kitten." ,Dr. Sylveon said chuckling softly.

"I has book about bawdee. My mommy/daddy sumtime read it tuh me." ,Alex said. "Sounds like a fun book. Now deep breath out, through your mouth only." ,Dr. Sylveon said. Alex nodded and did as he was told. "You es nice." ,he said smiling at Dr. Sylveon.

"Such a sweetheart. Now turn around please and face your Mommy/Daddy." ,Dr. Sylveon said. "Otay." ,Alex said, facing his caretaker. "Good kitten. Mommy/Daddy is so proud of you." ,Alex's caretaker said with a smile. "Yay!" ,Alex cheered happily, letting out some more coughs and sneezes.

Dr. Sylveon then placed the end of the sthethoscope over Alex's back. "Deep breath in please. Then out again through your mouth." ,he said. Alex did as instructed, but began to cough violently again. He also spit up a bit more as well.

"Hmmm. Interesting..." ,Dr. Sylveon mumbled, putting away his stehtoscope. "Is anything wrong with my kitten?" ,Alex's caretaker asked concerned. "I'm not sure yet. I'll need to do more tests and check his whole body before I can make a proper diagnosis." ,said Dr. Sylveon. "Okay." ,said Alex's caretaker.

Dr.Sylveon then called for a nurse on his pager and one showed up. She was a young leopard or jaguar with greyish-white fur and aqua-blue eyes. "How can I help you Doctor?" ,she asked, smiling at him then to Alex. "Something reguarding this young kitten?"

Dr. Sylveon nodded and gave the nurse a serious expression. "Nurse Spotty, I'd like you to help me collect some specimen samples from this kitten." ,he said. Nurse Spotty nodded and looked over at Alex then back to Dr. Sylveon. "Anything in particular?" ,she asked.

"Saliva, mucus, pee, poo, and blood. We will need to have it tested in our lab." ,Dr. Sylveon said. "Yes Doctor. I will get it done quickly." ,Nurse Spotty said, gathering up the necceassary supplies and putting on a pair of pink vinyl medical gloves. "Wut goin awn?" ,Alex asked nervously. "Shh. Just relax Sweetie." ,Nurse Spotty said inserting a needle into Alex's paw and drawing blood while he was distracted, removing the needle afterwards.

She then bandaged Alex's arm and moved onto the other tests, collecting Alex's saliva, pee, poo, and mucus. "All samples collected successfully Doctor." ,she said. "Good. Now get them over to the lab for testing right away." ,said Dr. Sylveon. "I'll get there jaguar fast." ,said Nurse Spotty.

About a half later, Nurse Spotty came back with the results. She handed them over to Dr. Sylveon, who then sighed softly. Judging by his saddened expression, it didn't look good. Alex was about to be in for quite the shock of his life.

Dr. Sylveon then went outside with Alex's caretaker to discuss the news. They broke town into tears, not knowing their little kiten was that sick. "He'll have to stay a least a few weeks so we can treat him." ,Dr. Sylveon said. "But how can this be? He's been vaccinated and should be protected." ,Alex's caretaker said somberly.

"That's true, but this isn't your standard mamalian or avarian flu bug. It's something new, and it would appear your kitten is a carrier of it." ,said Dr. Sylveon. "But he's never been alone before. He needs me." ,Alex's caretaker said. "Don't worry, our nurses will give him the best care any child can get. Many of them are even experienced in pediatric care and have years of experience." ,Dr. Sylveon said.

"Before I go though, can I catch this flu and get sick too?" ,Alex's caretaker asked concerned. "No. From what we've seen it seems to only affect him because of his developing and weakened immune system." ,Dr. Sylveon said. "I see. Thank you." ,Alex's caretaker said. Then she left out the door.

The next day, Alex woke up on a napcot. It was covered in a diaper pad, incase of leaks so it could absorb any moisture. "Wheh am I?" ,Alex asked nervously. "It's okay Hun. I'm gonna take good care of you and make you feel all better." ,Dr. Sylveon said, smiling under his mask.

"O...Otay." ,Alex said, yawning softly with a few coughs. "Now just relax and keep still. I'm gonna check your ears." ,Dr. Sylveon said, holding an otoscope in his feeler, looking at Alex's right ear. "Looks good. Nice and clean." ,Dr. Sylveon said. "Now onto the other parts of your check up."

Alex didn't really know what to expect. However, with the great care he is getting, his time in the hospital would definitely be worth it. He really like Dr. Sylveon and Nurse Spotty. Now they could take care of him while he was in the hospital and he was happy about it.
