The passage to Red Desert was finally open. Now, the H.E.S. had access to the ancients' mysteries, hidden for ages by blood-colored sand. Private Ishi wasn’t part of the H.E.S., she was simply stuck with them doing manual labor for a few weeks. She had little respect for the scientists, who stayed far from war's front lines. Choosing to only work at night when the other personnel slept, Ishi danced and sang along to her music in a silly voice while dusting the excavation chamber. Theoretically, the room was some kind of teleportation point, but she had no idea how it worked. She smirked, realizing that the scientists knew little more than she did about the chamber. Her butt was more useful than all these sadistic eggheads and their so-called research, Ishi thought. Unfortunately, her butt was about to land her in harm's way.

With a careless swing of her hips, she triggered a panel on an ancient column, activating a machine in the center of the room! Ishi froze, mesmerized by the blue motes of light and sparks that appeared from the machine. As she watched, the tiny spheres of light coalesced into a single, massive sphere. There was a sudden, bright flash of light, and Ishi felt a powerful force pulling her into the sphere! Her efforts to escape proved futile as she disappeared into the light, and the next thing she felt was the cool breeze of a forest...
