The Mad Farmer (Or 'Magsasakang Buang') depicts the tale of the farmer Paolo, the insane farmer who led a trail of murder, slaughtering and decapitating his victims, and using their remains as feed or fertilizer. The conflict being his evident capture, and the fight between those who wanted justice and those who wanted him free, as most of his victims were the opressive Spaniards.
The opera was blasted as being historically inaccurate, shallow and with out any real plot line.
Yet for some reason, many people gave the Opera glowing reviews.
In particular the performance of Juan Parotong who played the titular character. Not much was said about his performance, but many were entranced by the courtroom scene in which Paolo strips off all his clothing in order to prove his innocence and passion.
For some unknown reason, this was the most memorial scene in the subpar opera.
It's kinda nice to be drawing again after being stuck in a rut. I mean, you've seen my last drawings, hideous doodles and badly penned lines.
Since this stupid computer doesn't have photoshop, nor can it use GIMP or any other image editing software I know of (MACfffffff) I had to bust out the old inking stuff. It was kinda fun since I've never really done a lot of the heavy black shading before. I would've added the black background but I had chosen the paper poorly, at it was already beginning to wrinkle and get soggy with the ink already on it.
edit: title changed for more Tagalog accuracy

hmm... i think the title "Loco/Loko Magsasaka" is kinda misleading since "loko" means "to trick"... or they have a different meaning in Indonesia? well, for me, the translation for the Mad Farmer would be "Magsasakang Buang". Although "buang" is also synonymous to "crazy".
is it me or i have no knowlegde at all to that opera? XD
