21st Century Bed Setup
I just recently got my iPad, like almost yesterday, and I've been making extreme use out of it that those who bitch about it would never think of. One of those uses is for finding reference for my artwork when not at my desk. :) Since my laptop would burn on my bed and it battery is pretty weak anyway.

Woah, calm down. It's wroth it as Internet tablet for Twitter, Photobucket, eBay... Don't expect a flexible desktop experience like Mac OS X or Windiws though - it can be very limiting. Media handles the same as iPods. So you will need desktop or laptop with for iTunes to transferring music, movies, photos, shows, ect. With the only exception being Apps or the iTunes STORE that can be downloaded directly from the device. Which is nice for podcasts mostly.
The UI is amazing and makes for a great touch interface that just feels natural. I hope Google learns from when designing Android 3.0. The sound without earphones is really great. Didn't think they could fit a good speaker in the thin device. Now, I have had some Wifi troubles with my model. Like it'll cut out for no reason then ask to reconnect. Lately this has annoyed a great deal since it's always when I'm in the middle of typing!!! Grrr.
At first I argued it would make for a great production device. However, since I all have done lately is watch tones of browse the web, watch movies/tv shows, look at photos, and read a few books, I take that back. Not that it's a bad thing, just don't expect to get a term paper done on it or the next great novel.
If you want it anyway, I would wait for iOS 4 to hit the iPad for multitasking can be a must-have at times. Just a suggestion. Otherwise, it's still a nice device that has taste-spesific ups and downs.

oh and if you want multitasking now on the ipad you can always just jailbreak it and download the apps for that in the cydia store X3
my ipod touch used to be jailbroken but i put iOS 4 on it... i just wanted to test it but i didnt know that apple is the worst company ever and wont let me put my 3.1.3 version on it again DX

I did that for my iPod Touch to enable iOS 4's native multitasking. However, I'm not a huge fan of jailbreaking overall, due to it's mixed learning curve and security risk involved. So I rather wait for the native version of some basic then it's hacked up counterpart.
Plus, I hate it when people who do this stuff say that you should jailbreak an iOS device in order for it "rock." You shouldn't have to do that. All that says is it sucks unless you hack it. I rather get an Android device! In fact I have plans too.
Further more, I am NOT developing for the platform. You must have a Mac (or Mac OS X) for starters, Obj-C sucks, and Apple's ridicules rejections lately gives me chills. I'm sorry I couldn't make ya buy it, though lately I haven't been all that pleased with Apple. Heck, I put Xubuntu on my iBook.
