This is an idea for an intro to a song that's a long way off yet - there's not a lot there, but I really love the sound of it so far. And it had been far too long since I uploaded any sort of sign of life :)
Like Tears of an Eagle (and that's going back a bit), it's going to be another song about another mysterious dream that I had - I hadn't thought of translating it like that at first, but somehow parts of it have started to come back to me and fit into song form recently.
I thought I'd come up with a wonderful-sounding name, "The Secrets of an Island", but I Googled it and realized that I'd just remembered that from seeing the worst album cover in the world, so I'm stuck once again. It'll come to me as it evolves.

Why hello there, exactly Kjorteo's preferred kind of sound. Aren't you just shaping up to probably be one of Kjorteo's new favorite songs when you're done, yes you are, yes you are.
In all seriousness, aside from being the kind of pretty I like, I have to say that this intro has a sort of feeling of... nostalgic introspection, I suppose? to it. If a song started like this, I would probably expect the rest of the it to be a reflective piece about someone looking back over their life now that it's almost over, or something.
On the other hand, the last time I heard an intro that sounded anything at all like this, it turned into a song called Rock and Roll Angel (which... honestly might have been an attempt to just put whatever words sounded pretty in there without concern for assembling any sort of theme, as I have absolutely no idea what any of it could mean after reading those lyrics...) so I suppose I've been wrong before.

It's fascinating to hear what images music puts into people's heads, without the benefit of any... knowledge of planned lyrics or theme or anything - and I can certainly hear the feeling that you described. The theme of looking back in time is... sort of part of it, although you'll see how much of a stretch that is if and when I finish this. I'm glad that it's captured so much of your affection, so far :)
The floaty choir sound in that introduction you linked to is wonderful - the acoustic part sort of reminds me of Metallica's earlier songs like Fade to Black. And a lot of the time, it seems that the general sound of lyrics is almost more important than their making sense...

One of the reasons I love that song so much is the chorus just sounds so good... there's just something pleasant about the syllable count/way they're spaced/etc. on the "You're caught somewhere in between the sun and the shadow night/Invisible rainbow hiding in black and white" that makes for a very nice flow (that and the tune is pretty as well, naturally) even if, upon further examination, exactly what does that even mean?
And hearing your fans' speculation and interpretations based on what they've seen so far is fun, isn't it? That's why I leave the judgment calls in DLY as open as I do. :)

Well, in a word, no ;) It already picks up quite dramatically in the sketchy GP5 file I have here... I think it'll have a larger portion of... gentleness than most other songs I've written, though, even if that isn't really saying much! Thanks for saying, though - I'm glad people like how it starts.
