Related species. Found one up against the glass of a shopping mall one morning - slowly flapping and going no where. I just picked it up, got a nipped finger and got it pointed in the general direction of some trees. It landed on a branch and pretty much blended in with the bark of the tree - stayed there for the rest of the day

This one was in the Prescott AZ area some years ago. I was never sure if it was a Poorwill or a Nighthawk. I was doing the Sunday morning unlock of the mall out here and saw that bird flapping against the window of a mattress store. Decided to take a pic and then try to help it out - got it to fly off to a tree in a landscaping area. Sat there looking like a bump on a branch for the rest of the day
