The credit for the angle goes to the line-artist, really. I'm still pretty inexperienced at unusual angles and poses. Glad you like the finished pic, though!

That pattern was a bitch to get right, too, as may or may not be apparent. XD Need to come up with some more efficient techniques for doing that sort of thing, I suppose.

Hah hah. Highly doubt it.

It may or may not be one of the best pics of this particular character, though. At least I couldn't find much, when I browsed dA for character references. ( Then again, that may just be dA. )

One Piece was brutalized in the states, it lost a lot of fans because of it. It wouldn't surprise me if fan work of any One Piece characters would be a bit difficult to find.

the fact that they replaced all of the navy's guns with bright green super soakers comes to mind. not to mention your typical removal of most, if not all, alcohol, smoking, drug and sex references.

Woah, I didn't know about that, though I'm aware of Anime censorship in general. Now I'm wondering if One Piece was ever meant to be children's entertainment, to begin with. Maybe it originally had a higher age rating in Japan?

It was still shonen, manga aimed toward young teenage males, but the Japanese idea of what is acceptable differs from western thinking. About the only time I've heard of Japanese censorship was a matter of not the subject matter itself, but the fact that it was a dishonest representation. They forced Hard Gay after the air when they found out he wasn't actually gay, and was only parodying gay people.

Well not anymore. Funimation now owns the rights to dub One Piece since they took it from 4KIDS in 2007. The Funimation dub was on TV for a few months, but got cancelled. Funimation is now dubbing older episodes uncut and putting them on DVD.

When I watch One Piece I find it difficult to picture the characters as real people, but supergx's lineart and your coloring have made it happen. ~:3

Yeah, the show is really exaggerated and stylized. Not exactly something I specialize in, but I hope the final result is a good blend between realism and the original art style.
