Firstly, only listen to this if you're a fan of death/black metal, especially typical black metal that has very low production (ie, Burzum, Darkthrone, Mayhem).
I hate doing vocals, espcially black metal vocals, but I wanted to do some of the raspy stuff like John Haughm from Agalloch. I couldn't quite get the mix right and I think some of the segues aren't smooth enough. And no, I did no shred guitar because I don't like shred guitar, it's cheesy as hell. It's got a lot of acoustic melodies to it, 'cos I was actually trying to do something more like Woods of Ypres or Agalloch-esque, so in essence this could be considered folk-metal (even though I'm not singing about Trolls or Norway or forests etc.)
It's based off a long-ass poem I wrote a long time ago called 'The Mask of Apathy', which was about my animosity towards several of my friends at the time. There are 5 parts, but I'm not doing anymore, this was a pain in the ass to make.

Your instrumental parts are pretty great, particularly the acoustic sections (though you can hear a couple of scratches in between parts).
I can't say I'm exactly a fan of death/black vocals (in fact the vocals sounded as if they should be just a little higher in volume) but I liked this nonetheless!

This reminds me of the Cure sort of...so that's you singing finally? Not bad! And I like the drumming near the middle a lot too.
The middle guitar part reminds me a lot of Modest Mouse's song "Lounge", where they do a similar jam for about 4 minutes.
And what's the ending done with? Mandolin? I really like it.
I gotta admit Plex, you can really pull a song together and make it -really- work when you put a lot of effort to it. ANd seriously, this is a fine peice of music. Like, really good. Really really good.
Seriously...I'm not a death metal freak at all, but this is great.

That means a lot to me, coming from you especially, seeing how our taste in music is pretty much identical. I really appreciate it.
As for the other stuff. No, I didn't have my mandolin at the time so it was just my nylon-string guitar. Is that Modest Mouse song one that you sent me a while ago? Sounds pretty good, please send it next time you see me on YIM.
