La, la-la-la-la
La, la-la-la-la
She looks out of her window
At the people going by;
They look so happy it makes her cry.
She watches them laughing,
Sees the lovers holding hands
And everyone's each other's friend.
Beautiful and blue,
There not as good as you.
Beautiful and blue,
There are only two.
She feels so unhappy.
She no longer cares for life
Because there's thoughts of ending all her strife.
The world doesn't know her.
It's so hard and cold and cruel;
She wonders why she's such a fool.
Beautiful and blue,
There not as good as you.
Beautiful and blue,
There are only two.
La, la-la-la-la
La, la-la-la-la.
Beautiful and blue,
They're not as good as you.
(They're not as good as you.)
Beautiful and blue,
There are only two.
There are only two.
La, la-la-la-la
La, la-la-la-la.

Badfinger's "Beautiful and Blue", written by Tom Evans.
Originially written during the early days of Badfinger, when they were known prior to 1969 as The Iveys. While it sounds different from Badfinger's more familiar sounds, it shows they were talented from the start. The song was released on "Maybe Tomorrow", the only album they released under the Iveys name. It was later remixed (with reverbed vocals) and rereleased with other Iveys songs on the first Badfinger album "Magic Christian Music".
I love the melody of this song; it's so emotional. One of my favorite 1968-69 pieces.
Drawn with Prismacolor pastels.
