Another quick idea I had to get down. Takes place after the complete SPD: LR timeline is finished.
Basically, Mick is forced to retire from SPD after an incident on Sauria where Mick had to beat Wolf O'Donnel at finding an ancient artifact that had enough power to wipe out the entire Lylat Sytem by summoning an ancient evil Krazoa deity. Mick ended up having to seal this deity away in its palace, a pyramid-like structure. However, after he fought and sealed the wicked deity away the Pyramid started to fall apart on him. Mick was exhausted by this point, injured, low on energy and tired. Mick limped to the entrance of the Pyramid to see Wolf standing there, calling for him to hurry up before the ruins collapsed. Mick, unsure of Wolf's motives, dithered for a moment; that, unfortunately was enough time for the ruins to cave in over his head. Wolf, in a panic and not wanting to be accused of murder, calls for everyone he can think of to help dig Mick out (Star Fox, CDF, freelance mercenaries, etc.)
An unspecified time later, Mick arrives on Fortuna at the request of his former rival, Wolf O'Donnel, who was tasked by an indivual; a White Tiger named Trahke to find a set of artifacts known as the Sanguineous Paintings. The city, and O'Donnel, are gripped with fear over a serial killer the press have dubbed the "Bruitici". During an argument between Mick and O'Donnel, an unknown force attacks them, and Mick is knocked unconscious. He wakes to find Wolf dead and his memories of the attack blurred. Suspected of his murder, Mick goes on the run. After retrieving O'Donnel's journal from a colleague named Margot Xaviea, he learns that O'Donnel discovered the location of the fourth Sanguineous Painting beneath the Cornerian Louvre Art Museum; during his time on Fortuna getting help from local businesswoman and mob boss Liliam Bouchard, Mick is stalked by Xen Winchester, an altered clone of a mysterious individual known as Galen Dhaleos. The people behind Xen's creation were the last survivors of a society called the Tenebrae Custodibus who are sworn to fight against Trahke's plans. While hiding in the ghetto of Fortuna City, Mick calls Kai on a payphone, trying to explain everything. Kai is not hearing it, saying that Mick's face has been plastered all over the media, causing everyone to believe that Mick killed Wolf. Kai, thinking Mick is guilty due to his fingerprints being all over Wolf's apartment and on his body from Mick trying to revive him, demands Mick to turn himself in. Mick doubles down on proclaiming his innocence, begging Kai to believe him and that even though he has killed people as a mercenary, he does not kill innocents and is not a murderer. Kai is unswayed, calling Mick a "Scheming Sociopath" and tells Mick never to call him again, saying that their relationship as lovers is over. Kai then hangs up, leaving Mick heartbroken. Despite this, he forces himself to press on.
After infiltrating the Louvre, he learns that the paintings hide pieces of the Lithoglyph, an alchemical artifact created by Trahke hundreds of years before. The paintings were seized and hidden by the Tenebrae Custodibus centuries before. After retrieving the Painting from its hiding place, Mick is ambushed by Xen and robbed of the painting. The two escape the Louvre as it is assaulted by mercenaries, with Xen using a magical chakram, along with his own custom laser hand cannon to keep both Mick and the mercenaries at bay. The two are both knocked out by a shape-shifting stranger who steals the Painting. Mick is rescued by Bouchard, who takes him back to Fourtuna and O'Donnel's apartment to find further clues. However, Bouchard sends an assassin to kill Mick; he is able to kill the assassin and heads for Katina, where a new Bruitici killing has taken place. Arriving in Katina City, he finds the location of the final Painting and re-encounters a captive Bouchard. She reveals that Trahke is planning to use the Lithoglyph to awaken the Cubiculum Cambiona, the last surviving member of the hostile half-demon-half-angel Nephilem race, and breed them back into existence. Bouchard is later murdered by Trahke, who is revealed to have been killing and extracting samples of alechemical ingredients for his experiments under the guise of the Bruitici. Mick infiltrates Trahke's fortress, the Ahrkon Sanitarium, and encounters members of the Junto, a secret society that shares Trahke's ambitions. While going through the complex, Mick switches off the power, releasing a rabid creature called the Proto-Nephilem. Later on, Mick is locked in a containment area by Xen so he can turn the power back on without interference.
Xen succeeds, finding his way through the Sanatarium and killing the Proto-Nephilem. Forming an alliance, Mick retrieves the final Painting, while Xen goes to retrieve a Periapt Shard, one of three magical daggers which can kill Trahke. After retrieving the Painting, Mick is forced by Trahke to hand over the Painting to save Xen's life. After Trahke releases one of the Junto's monsters on them, Xen helps Mick escape—giving him the two Periapt Shards in his possession—before killing the monster, being seriously wounded in the process. Mick recovers the final Shard and reaches Trahke, who reforms the Lithoglyph and begins reviving the Cubiculum Cambiona. Mick succeeds in wounding him, but is stopped by Lerak, a Blue-Haired Red Dragon. Trahke's right-hand man. Lerak proceeds to kill Trahke, revealing himself to be a Nephilem who has been secretly aiding Mick using his influence in the Junto and shape shifting abilities. He offers Mick the chance to join him, but Mick refuses after remembering that it was Lerak who murdered O'Donnel in Trahke's form. Mick uses the Lithoglyph to destroy the Cubiculum Cambiona, causing an explosion that kills Lerak. On his way out, he finds Xen, barely alive. Xen gets out a syringe of serum from his bag, telling Mick to inject the serum into him or he will die from his injuries. Mick injects Xen with the serum, which heals all his injuries and rejuvinates him. Xen gets back on his feet, he and Mick looking into each other's eyes for a few moments. That's when Xen, using his Farsight Ability, is able to see squads from both SPD and CDF, led by Doggie Cruer in the Junto hideout, along with memebers of the Media. Xen inform Mick that they have come for him, still thinking he is guilty of O'Donnel's murder. Both Mick and Xen escape, and end up fleeing into the snowy mountains that surround the Sanitarium, escaping from the law enforcers. When they are safe, both Mick and Xen stand at a snowy panoramic cliff side under a full moon, a light snow falling with a calm breeze going around both of them. Xen asks Mick what he plans to do after this point. Mick responds that he doesn't know what to do, that his life as he knew it is over; he's still wanted for his rival's murder, he doesn't have a home to go back to, his own lover has disowned him, and it is unlikely that any of his friends will be welcoming, even if they know the truth. Xen comes up behind Mick, and places his arms over Mick's shoulders, crossing them in a slight embrace as he tries to bring Mick some comfort and reassurance. Xen tells Mick that this is not the end for him. Xen continues by saying "Life is always full of new paths and possibilities, and that everyone stumbles or falls at one point; what matters is getting back up again," and also tells Mick that he will stay by his side as long as he wants, since Mick went out of his way to help him with the Junto. A tear ends up falling from Mick's eye and he places a hand on one of Xen's arms. Mick ends up wrapping that hand around on of Xen's, asking a request from the ashen-albino lion: "Tell me about the memories you inherited: the ones about Mel'Andrea..." Xen answers with "It would be my pleasure, Mi Angel Oscuro (My Dark Angel)." Xen ends up becoming Mick's lover and companion from then on.
The Story ends with Doggie Cruger, who has resumed command of SPD, giving a press conference from outside the Ahrkon Sanitarim. Cruger tells the media that evidence found inside the facility clears Mick of Wolf O'Donnel's murder, and finishes by saying that despite Mick being innocent, he is still being sought out for questioning related to the events at Ahrkon. Cruger finishes the speech by saying that SPD will not rest until they have answers.
