Well, we'll see won't we? We don't know what Jonty does with it, and there is no guarantee that the Rivenlod won't try and succeed to snap it back from Jonty's hand, let's just hope he doesn't since the power this thing has over Jonty sure is quite worrying.. and terrifying..
PS: He's not an 'elf' lol, is he?

But this one, is the original, not a copy or anything, not summoned, this one is the main one. He had it in his coat the whole time. I think, since it's the original, I believe the person who holds it.. holds the power of it, and holding just a copy doesn't has the power of the original, so I don't think Rivenlod can 'summon' a copy of it that 'works just fine' as if it was the main one. But who knows...
It's quite an interesting question to ponder about isn't? Asking it myself, what would/will happen if he tries to rip it... Would it successfully rip, or it's not that easy to destroy it? If he would successfully rip it, would he become a non-demon, a normal mortal once more that he once was? If that would happen, what would happen to him then, he is in hell right now after all AND his body is hijacked at the moment, so what would happen to him/his soul/his consciousness and his body.. etc etc, if he suddenly got 'cured' of being a demon right there right now? Interesting...
According to a previous page, contracted Demons and Angels don't have an afterlife. When they die, they just cease to exist.
Violating the contract as an Angel results in you being returned to your normal life, with all memories of your time as an Angel being erased.
Violating your contract as a Demon results in your execution.
Violating the contract as an Angel results in you being returned to your normal life, with all memories of your time as an Angel being erased.
Violating your contract as a Demon results in your execution.
Aaaaand how do you know all that, how can you be 100% sure of it? About ceasing to exist completely makes no sense especially(Plus it's already proven wrong since Stephen died before and he didn't 'vanished', Jonty was separated from his body so one could say that he technically died.. and he didn't vanished either... same goes for Lexus, and so on, so your little 'theory' doesn't make any sense.
And violating the angel contract, there are many different ways to 'violate' something, so the penance would likely depend on the "weight" of the violation. There are 'fallen angels' there after all, and I don't think just ANY and/or a single mistake would result definitely in angel-memory-wipe and nothing else.
And this pack of demons that trapped Jonty in a cage, after he "killed" Rivenlod and sent him to hell, doesn't necessarily has to have the "final saying" in what is or isn't a violation in the "demon community", and what kind of violation goes up to what kind of punishment. Not every violation would end in execution, AND we don't know who those people there were, they might've been a gang, mafia of some sorts, that has their own rules set up, and perhaps Rivenlod was in it but either Jonty or we as viewers don't know anything about it.
The things that you just said are quite bold claims, at least to claim it as 100% true for sure, don't you think?

Yeah, I tried to edit my post earlier, but FA was having server hiccups.
My guess is that fallen Angels, as well as demons like Lexus and Rivenlod are natural born Angels and Demons, not contractors like Jonty is.
As I said, the part about them ceasing to exist is canonical, according to the series creator themselves, and is detailed in this pic

Since the writer is not a native English speaker, I'll try to clarify it.
"Ways of recruiting mortals to serve Eden or Hell. The one who signs the certificate gets special abilities and considerable strength, but pays for it by eternal service to one or the other side. Unquestioningly fulfilling all orders coming from their superiors. Such a contract is almost impossible to break, and the converted soul of the contractor in the event of death, disappears forever into oblivion."

I see.
Possible...
But 'disappears into oblivion' doesn't necessarily means 'ceasing to be', maybe you end up in pitch black 'void' of some sorts... hmm... I will need to ask Ripli about it... it would seriously suck if people who die don't go to heaven/eden or hell but simply cease to be, I really don't like the idea...

Considering most Demons tend to be evil, and the ones who aren't (like Jonty) are ordered to behave as such anyways, I think non-existence would be preferable to ending up in Hell after death. I know if I had the choice, I would happily take ceasing to exist, over eternal torment every single time.
Sadly, the inverse seems to be true of Angels, as it's been stated contractors are forced to the front lines, and don't get to hang around in Heaven like the natural born Angels do. Which basically means anyone who signs that contract is signing up for an eternity of military service, with no reward in the event of death!

Well, to be fair, if You chose to be a demon, it's sort of your own fault.. to sign a demon pact and sell yourself, your soul, to a demon, and it still is more logical that your immortal soul would end up somewhere, either in heaven or hell... NOT vanish into nothingness, soul, what IS US, is immortal... I guess that's a subject a bit up to the personal beliefs.. but still..
That would seriously suck... I mean, sign a contract that -in general, in theory- just tells you to slay demons(which are.. in general, in theory, mostly, pure evil) to protect mortals from them, signing it, agreeing for it, to do that for as long as you're around, doesn't sound bad... but if it really, no matter what, ends up in the void, that would be seriously sad and suck... It would have me not like this comic story universe at all after all...

Well, it's HIS demon contract, the contract that has Jonty's name in it and not Rivenlod. He can't use it against Rivenlod. If there is a demonic certificate that has Rivenlod's name in it and Jonty would get that one, then yea, very likely it would be a very powerful tool to use against him, but as you can easily notice and probably did already, it's not the case here..
Well, he is not the sharpest tool in the shed, or at least/and is quite eager to make hasty and poor life decisions, but hey, can you blame him all that much?
Everyone's different, everyone has their own unique personality, and not everyone is wise, careful, cautious, calculating calm and thinks about everything they do.
He had no family.. other than *fuck I'm terrible with names.. how was she called? Oh right!* Lukida, who picked him up from a dirty alley, all alone abandoned tossed to the side like a piece of trash and crying. And she perhaps wasn't ready for a child, in the "ask me" and stuff, she did said that "Having a child sure is different/more difficult than taking care of pets.."(or something like that), she tried her best, and it doesn't mean it was the worst, but it doesn't mean that her education & trying-to-help-him-grow-up-well methods were for sure the best for him. For someone who had a lot of shit happen to him, he sure at least has a kind warm heart, caring for his friends and trying to do good by them, it is what's important & matters. Can you be 100% sure that you would do much better in his place, in the whirl of all those things?
Also, well, perfect no-weakness no-imperfections characters tend to be rather linear and boring.. and OP, so y know.. would you prefer if he and all the other characters were just perfect, with no hindrances.. difficulties.. and likely, very little personality?
(Just to be sure you know, I'm not attacking you in any way, just making a conversation & putting a few words on the matter from myself ^^)

No of course it's not an attack. I just have a personal contempt for weak protagonists. Of course character flaws are vital to making a character interesting, but too many or too severe ones cripple the character into a weak noodle that causes some to have no interest in them. Jonty is an example of the kind of protagonists I find to be deplorable and uninteresting, not someone I can relate to. As far as I'm concerned, he's the opposite of a mary sue but just as uninteresting. It's possible (and preferable) to have characters that are weak have some angle to make them interesting, he just doesn't do it for me. That said, the other characters and the setting itself are quite interesting and that's what I'm sticking around for.
A perfect character with no flaws is just as ineffectual as a deeply flawed character that has no sense of agency and that's really where this all boils down to, as far as I'm concerned. Jonty has the flaws to make a character interesting and I don't fault that, but what he lacks is all agency. He's a wet paper bag, he doesn't do anything, he just gets tossed around and gets in everyone else's way. I can only level judgement from what I've seen thus far of course and by that merit there could be some great redeeming arc to come, a completion of the hero's journey, for instance. Such a thing would turn much of my opinion around and I could say that the very fact I hate him is actually part of what makes him a great character. We've not hit that point yet though, so I still hate him. ^v^

Go Stephen go! Beat the shit out of him! I can't right there right now so you better do it and do it good! Annihilation!
Now the question is... will he/they somehow actually defeat Rivenlod, and if so, will it be actually permanent or just temporary... he is very powerful after all, Clem noticed & said as much during the 'trial'.
And the other question is, did Rivenlod managed to do anything to Jonty already, or not yet, will it have any side effects.. that he started to do 'the thing', or it won't, does Jonty remembers everything... not everything but most.. or not at all..
And yet another question is, what will Jonty now do or be able to do with it, with the certificate, will he be able to just rip it apart? Will it 'free him' of being a demon and change him back into a normal 'Jonty' & a mortal? Free his soul and be no longer 'hungry' for the souls? Or he won't be able to rip it apart? Will he try to do it in the first place? What will he do, what will it do?... Oh the questions questions...
PS: Is it just me... or Jonty's horns are.. larger than usual?
PPS: *Hugs Synth and hugs him a lot.. pulling him close to my caring friend embrace.. and if She's around, grabs Ripli too and snuggles in a soft smooth lovely friendly threesome <3*

Well, now I have a doubt why Stephen did not kill him instead of taking away the contract, but well maybe it was not the most viable option, now I wonder what Jonty will do, with his demonic contract... or what is he supposed to do do... I guess I'll find out on the next page.
Good Work to both, Keep it up. =D

So if he rips up the contract, he would become mortal again right? And if thats so, then his soul, which is trapped where he is now would pop back into his own body, effectively evicting the other guy from his body!
At least thats how it should work.......
And then Clem can change him into a vamp to be hers... *coughs*I mean be with her.
