Well, you have to think that in this case the cameo characters are not playing "themselves" but are playing roles. Everything is a parody of the Three Bears fairy. So Pink and Red are "Mon and Dad" and Dirk is "Baby Bear"... obviously is something that can't fot with their other appearences!!
Yes, it can be seen even in that way, you know it can be like the Looney Tunes that play Hollywood roles in parodies like "Carrotblanca" or even like the DC Comics multiverse where you can have familar character with dramatic different lives. By the way Red, Pink and Dirk in this story are not the same characters of their main stories, that must be clear!!
