it is human size and of interest to fursuiters so i put it under fursuit
this suckar is 13 feet long
15 pounds of stuffing
my guess is at least 20 pounds overall
this is an exception to the rule as i normally do not take plushie commissions. infact the scale print fur is the reason i took this on, i saw it at joanns and wanted it so bad but that was back in late 2008 when i had little money to spare and could not justify a "just to have a round" purchase. then a few months later this commission came up and i told him "only if is this fabric is still there will i do it" so i went, fingers crossed, heart pumping IT WAS THERE i hugged it all the way over to the cutting table to be measured, and ya know what? i used half of the full length of the roll so i have enough for another plush or a fursuit.
with any luck this will make it into the CA state fair creative arts show, its always a crapshoot entering as it depends on what the judge likes. he has been entered in the "any other kind of toy" division since it says that is where teddy bears go XD i have full permission of the owner to enter this in the fair btw and i hope it gets in as it will delight so many kids what with how to train your dragon causing a new spark in dragon interest.
i will also be sad to see him go, this guy is going to hawaii. i had full artistic liberty so he is more personal than most commissions....BUT he is so big that by the time he is ready to leave i think i will be sick of him XD
OH and the legs are semi-poseable, i made them of foam and they are ment to stay curled up against the body when displayed but the limbs are knotched at the joints so the limbs "rag-doll style" flop around when carried, with it posed in the wheel-barrow for instance the arm is flopped down
and i will admit to cheating on one thing...the hands are fuzzy mittens XD i just hate making hands so much and the color and texture matches to pfffft why not . and the wrists are floppy and srpingy (you can make him wave by shaking his arm)
btw the whiskers are trimmed downy feather boas slicked down with wig hairspray and then clear coat....
the fluff, oh gawd the fluff D:
i trimmed them to a point over the trashcan right? well my sister opens the door and the tiny air gust made them go POOF out of the can, so i covered it and ran outside to dump it in the big can and they all floated out and drifted around like dandylion seeds and i was like "ahhh don't inhale them!"
lol

think of it as a "soft sculpture" then ;)
i am actually bringing an extra dollar with me when i take him for judging in case the fair decides to put this in "any other hand craft" ($9 entry fee) instead of the toy class under "any other kind of a toy" ($8 entry fee) because i think he is borderline between plushie and sculpture.

I think you're allowed to take some shortcuts with something like this. It's just so BIG and AWESOME! It didn't occur to me that the hands were mittens, it's impossible to tell. Your plushie work is just as good as your suit work, which is amazing in itself. What are the horns made of? They're so shiny! And the ball in its mouth, is it attached or did you stick it in there for the picture?
WOW.
The whole construction of this... *drool*
That FUR. *more drool*
Tell me there's more than just that one colour-pattern... O__O WANT SOME. Heh. Do you have any idea which company might have made this stuff?
This has got to be one of the most beautiful plushie/soft-sculptures I've ever seen.

Oh my god I want to hug it so bad. i'm so jealous of the person that got this from you. It looks absolutely awesome--you did such a great job, and I love the print you used for the scales--glad it was still there, hahahah. I just want to rub my face in his furry mane, it looks so soft. Awww <3
