A depiction of my fursona "Talon", stylized in Celtic patterns, with the exception of a viking "vegvisir" symbol thrown into the mix. Alongside his name, spelled out in Elder Futhark runes.
(Disclaimer: the neck-side symbol is intended as a traditional Celtic knot, and not a christian trinity. Primarily a symbol of balance with elements and nature, it has a much deeper meaning that was misinterpreted and stolen by the christian psychos of ye-olde' times.)

While I've been staying safe at home here in southern Colorado, the smoke from the [heck][dang] wildfires has been driving my asthma and sinuses crazy this week. So to escape the pain a little, I decided to relax and do some drawing today. I don't know why my best art comes out when I'm either bored, suffering, or just not trying too hard; but I love the way this one came out.
In my boredom/suffering, I decided to rock out to some Eluveitie (Celtic folk/metal band), which then gave me the idea for this. I love this art style, the mythology, the folklore, and I even have some Scottish & viking in my blood for crying out loud. So I figured, it's about time I give this "Celtic patterns" style a try. And WOW, was this a fun piece to make!
While my fursona is a mix of many things (in more ways than one), the wolf archetype best fits his silhouette, so it was easy to look up some reference material for a design. Besides that, I did have to somewhat "stencil" my way around the patterns, and the "T A L O N" runes were sketched after a single translation search. But besides the details, this certainly made for a fun art challenge, and I hope to try more art like this again some time.
Stay safe, all you heckin animals! <3
