I agree with this whole-heartedly and will act upon this prompt by grabbing my pen a piece of staff paper, send a letter to my lutenist friend and write! It's a little long though :P
I doubt I'd get permission from the copy-left holder, though these days that doesn't matter much~ But I'm from living in another age.

Yes, I think you're right, the third verse does have a fitting end.
Oh he won't mind (I think, maybe as long as the words are hidden in the version I send him to play) I think one of us should ask for permission!
Maybe I should ask the guy, but I'm to shy, so I'll have to hope he reads this little conversation if he ever read his comments and say yes~

Well, since you gave permission, I'd be daft to work on a piece hire a singer and post it without saying that the text was written (or rather adapted) by you~
As for the music, romantic art songs are not going to be a problem! Now there is one thing, as this is a bit of a sexual poem would it be alright that instead of the traditional piano accompaniment which is used for most songs of the period, I use a guitar, which to me at least, gives a more passionate, or "hot" sound. Guitars were used for songs of the sort, just to a much lesser extent than pianos (especially in the northern countries)~
Well, wonderful! I'll get right on it, I'll even hire a singer, it'll take some time, but hopefully the result will be worth it (me being a traditionalist still insist to work with paper and pen even on music). Thanks!

Dear..... god...... I had a grin on my face reading through this. I adore Poe and other works from that time period, and I used to be able to sing the original all the way through at the drop of a dime, so to see it reworked to the language of Poe's era is just... asstounding.

I do you one better:
baby got back in LATIN
magnae clunes mihi placent, nec possum de hac re mentiri.
(Large buttocks are pleasing to me, nor am I able to lie concerning this matter.)
quis enim, consortes mei, non fateatur,
(For who, colleagues, would not admit,)
cum puella incedit minore medio corpore
(Whenever a girl comes by with a rather small middle part of the body)
sub quo manifestus globus, inflammare animos
(Beneath which is an obvious spherical mass, that it inflames the spirits)
virtute praestare ut velitis, notantes bracas eius
(So that you want to be conspicuous for manly virtue, noticing her breeches)
