Name: Dakota McCall
Age: Five and a half years (equivalent: 23.5 dog years)
Breed: Purebred Dalmatian
Adopted: Yes; officially left custody after marriage but still works with his master
Birthplace: Seattle, Washington
Current Residence: Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada
Occupation: Team leader of canine smokejumper team, British Columbia Wildfire Service, Parattack program
Collar: Yellow with a stainless steel dog tag, ‘Dakota’ written in all caps on a small print; has also been known to wear a forest green collar with a stylized canine version of the Parattack insignia on the tag
Marital Status: Married, to Elise McCall
Children: One litter, majority adopted; two remain. One daughter, Utah McCall, currently undergoing emotional support animal training in Vancouver, one son, Marshall McCall, once presumed dead, living in Adventure Bay as member of the PAW Patrol
Likes: Ecology; nature hikes; digging fire lines; jumping fires (smokejumper lingo for actively jumping into a wildfire situation); acknowledged heroism; working with his son Marshall; training new recruits; Rocky (ironically, he doesn't like the pup packs and the machines he’s made but appreciates him as a person and as a potential innovator in his line of work); pulp and detective fiction, especially about cat burglars and great thieves
Dislikes: (Perceived) Cowardice; hesitation; being disrespected; automation (at least when it threatens his job--Rocky and Ryder’s pup packs have earned his ire for potentially making his entire canine team redundant); people making fun of him (especially when it’s over his son’s faults); arsonists, careless campers--really any human whose ineptitude or malice causes work for him and his team--and being outright embarrassed, as he isn't used to this emotion.
Fear: Spiders, loss of colleagues
Parachute: Currently uses standard-issue blue and white canopy with white pilot chute; before Marshall ran away he used an orange and white canopy with orange pilot chute, but now has left that rig in Elise’s care until Marshall inherits it.
Fun Facts:
#1: The Band-Aid on Dakota's snout covers up a second scar across the fringe of his nose. He received the big one from a bad tree landing early in his career, when a branch somehow cut him through the protective facemask on his helmet, and this one came from a case of overwhelming curiosity in the base’s parachute loft; while it's long since scarred over, his teammates (and Elise) thought the band-aid was rather charming, and it stuck as part of his image. This scar has been known to burn whenever Dakota gets intensely focused on something.
#2: Due to the way American citizenship (and canine adoption) laws work, Dakota holds dual citizenship as both a Canadian and American citizen--in that he was born and adopted in the US, but adopted by a visiting Canadian. After marrying Elise and moving into the smokejumper base, he formally considered himself a Canadian, but he still wears an American flag patch on his smokejumper tree landing suit in place of the usual Canadian maple leaf flag to help him stand out.
