The Laptyer, whose name was Athoris, grumbled and sulked unhappily. Her former life had been with the mayor of a town called Shaktoolik in the Nebraska state. There she was treated with luxury and royalty. She had a big garage all to herself, filled with all the latest and greatest gadgets, tools, and all the fittings that only a supercar could dream of. She would take the mayor to and from important meetings at the town hall, and when there was no work to do, she would drive around the town feeling proud of herself, making sure to always show off her new fittings or gadgets she had got that day. A lot of the living vehicles in the town became jealous of her, and all the attention got to her engine at times.

When the new mayor of the town was elected, he decided to replace Athoris with a newer model of car. Quite obviously, Athoris could not believe what she had heard. All her fittings were taken away, her garage was taken away, and all her fancy gadgets too. She was then sent to a dealership and eventually bought by her new owner, Sharise. Together they moved away from Nebraska and had come to Chillwind in Oregon.
