Since this is May, it's usually time for the 'sweeps' for specialized TV and movie presentations; but I'd like to throw the Internet into the fray, as well.
So, to get as much attention as possible in my site, I begin this month with a new series of sketches that had been drawn for me in the past. Most of these images were rendered in a big black sketchbook (that was originally used as a ledger), with the earliest works going as far back as 1991!
My first offering is a sketch drawn by "FA" member/artist
MelWhite. It's a full-color illustration of her character 'Coyote' (seen here, hunting for a somewhat elusive chicken for breakfast) - who originally appeared in a series of short stories in small digest-sized booklets, illustrated by White herself.
Specifically, she drew 'Coyote' for me, back in October, 1995 at "ConFurence East" - a 'furry convention' held in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to be renamed "AnthroCon" later on.
It's good to know that Mel. is still active in keeping the tales of this Native American trickster alive, by presenting more "Coyote" stories in webcomic form, via the Radio Comix website. Go to http://www.radiocomix.com/ and see for yourself. (BTW, she is also reviving "Duncan & Mallory" - the collaborative work between her and Robert Asprin - which can also be seen in the Radio Comix website.)
Throughout this month, I will share with you some classic sketches from other anthroartists - spanning over the last two decades - mostly from my big black sketchbook, or BBS for short - including some recent acquisitions drawn back in March, 2010 at "MegaCon" (the comic book convention in Orlando). So, keep an eye out for them!
Meanwhile, check out more of Mel.'s increbile imagery at http://www.furaffinity.net/user/melwhite/
