Hey everyone! I’m curious. How did each of you enter the furry fandom? I’d love to hear your story! Here’s mine:
I was going to college to become an asl interpreter for the deaf. I ended up catching a very slight flu and woke up deaf (I know... ironic) I rushed to the doctors to find out that a misdiagnosis lead to it being permanent. Before I could get hearing aids my brother introduced me to one of his friends in suit. I couldn’t hear him or see his lips and I left discouraged and honest ticked off about the situation. Then on the way home I realized. Kids get to see their favorite characters come to life every day at Disney land/world and other amusement parks and are able to interact with them... but what do deaf kids have? When I went home that day I started my first suit in hopes to create a signing character to spread joy and to interact with deaf kids. But when I got my hearing aids the head would cause pain to my ears and was not glasses friendly. Although I was saddened that the mask would never be what I needed I sold her and created the idea of Kiaro to be my deaf oc. But before we could create him we had to experiment with ways to make the head glasses and hearing aid friendly. After a lot of trial we found a way to do just that and make it adjustable at the same time. After kiaros base was completed we went ahead and made other suits for friends and family. After many of them, we decided to open for commissions as they seem to be a huge success amongst those who have them. That is what put me where I am today. So, what about you? Post your story below!
