Throughout the ages the kitsune lived beside humans, a respectful relationship of two peoples, and a symbiosis of the spiritual and the material. Though as time progressed a divide started to grow, with man's insatiable need to expand and the kitsune folk having been trusting, if only a bit too trusting. The outcome of greed had left the kitsune population scattered and eventually themselves divided. In time the rifts would heal but the scars of the past would remain, and resentment below the surface. Of the dispersal of their populations the more mischievous of the kitsune had an easier time making their way across the lands, harboring no trust for any but themselves. In time the world of man came to view this group as the kitsune's true nature and would thus perceive all as such when any were encountered.
Kalli, having descended of spiritual guardians and fellows of men felt the stares of fellow beachgoers as they gazed, not at her figure or attire, but her ears and tail. Kitsune were often shied away from or cautiously approached as most had taken them to be tricksters, liars, and bringers of mayhem. But there was an odd feeling poking at her from a ways down the beach. Looking in that direction she was met not with glares of caution, but the curious eyes of a trio of kemono girls. They varied in their animal type, but all shared a mostly human visage of varying tones of skin and hair. Some animal humanoids had abilities that slightly differentiatd them from common kemono kind, but all were friendly, even beyond the natures of their more animal counterparts. She mustered up a bit of courage and walked towards them, hoping they wouldn't disperse or wander off. There was an innate feeling in all animal humanoids that told them if there was something different about a kemono, as there were outlying populations that were in-line with cultural beliefs throughout the world.
Surprisingly she was met with waves from the closest, a kind of marine animal, being identified by her smile of sharp teeth, a shark. "Hello there, goldie! No need to be so cautious, I don't bite!" She said, beckoning Kalli forward. She stepped closer and the other two looked over and smiled, canids, tails wagging slightly behind them. "We don't see too many kitsune, and I can tell you aren't too keen on the staring. Trust me, I know the feeling. They make one movie of a killer shark and now every shark is a menace in the water." She said, empathizing the with perception her kind had been labeled with. "Thanks, and I'm sorry to hear about that. Oh, I haven't introduced myself yet, have I? I'm Kalli, and it's nice to meet you..." She began, being cut off at the end by the blonde canine giving her a tight hug. "Sorry, I'm kind of a big greeter. I like making new friends, and I've got her over here to pry me off if my hugs get too awkward." She said, gesturing to the other canine, who extended her hand. "Forgive my friend over here, she's a bit much. Trust me, I have to work with her." She said, the blonde responding by sticking out her tongue, getting the same in kind. Kalli already felt like she was welcomed, and suddenly the piercing stares felt like nothing, and she met others who didn't care about what unfounded negative perceptions others had.
