Black Russian Terrier is a mix of Airedale, the Giant Schnauzer, the Rottweiler, the Newfoundland, the Caucasian Shepherd and some other.
Interesting fact: that breed was created after WW2 by order of Stalin (but he died before black terrier was created). Btw, other name of that dogs in Russia: Stalin Dog. Soviet army needed in strong, clever, stress-resistant, confident, courageous dog who could work in south and north of country (in other words, from steppe to tundra). So it's military dog at first, and they can be aggressive for strangers (and they usually attack without warning). Black terrier needs in serious training. But people buy them as companion and show dogs too.
