
I'm fairly certain that this is a cicada killing wasp, although it could be a species using mimicry to just look like one to avoid predators. I'm fairly certain though that, due to the area I found it in and the wikipedia (oh, how my college professors would scorn me for using wikipedia as a reference) article here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_cicada_killer that it is what I suspect it is.
