Speaking of coyenas … I recently accidentally made a new one. ^.^ This is Notus … cousin to Zephyrus, Austeria, and Eurus; nephew to Boreas. He's a tawny grey with light spots and mane, unlike the blue-grey with dark mane sported by his uncle and cousins. He's gay, just a bit on the femme side, and looks up to his cousins living out in the larger world while he's still home on the family farm.
So: Bit of back story. The coyenas* are named after the four winds of Greek mythology: Zephyrus the gentle west wind, Boreas the north wind, Eurus the east wind, and … Notus, the south wind. But I didn't like the name Notus for a sister, so instead I feminized the Roman equivalent, Auster, to come up with Austeria. That left the name Notus still available and I thought I might use it someday. Then, this character popped into my head the other day, so, voila.
*Aura, the mom, is a coyote, not a coyena. But her name, too, comes from a minor Greek goddess of the gentle breeze.
