For some reason I am reminded of how Harry Dresden is always wearing his iconic duster and wide brimmed hat on the covers of the Dresden novels, but when you actually read them he is almost never actually wearing the ensemble for most of the story. I just read one where he spent most of the finale naked, any excuse not to actually wear the coat I guess.

This is going to be a long comic.
My gut-instinct response to her question is: Cannon fodder.
The writer in me knows better.
The expression on Ulfric's companion in the bottom left panel tells a lot. I'm wondering who he is, but what he's thinking is pretty clear.
Cinematically, the turn at a fork in the road makes a lovely scene. I can see it in my mind's eye. :)
I'm a big fan of the background in the final panel. Not sure why.

As you read, you'll understand WHY she questions what could be his meaning. It's not entirely his fault, they're both just in shitty situations.
And yes, this comic WAS going to be a shot for shot redo of the Dance of Dragons and Bears one, but then so much had changed and I wanted to try to do a proper retelling AND get better at sequential art. So this is the attempt.
Lol, yeah she's up front because it's his subtle way of saying "you're important to me, and I value you more than my words express".
The companion is his housecarl and lifelong friend, Galmar. And yeah, he's so not fond of how close his Jarl is getting to her because he knows it could look bad for him in the longrun. Racism is clear and present in Tamriel, including Skyrim.
