Yeah, that's an official Traveller vargr worldname - just coreward of the worlds of the 40th's squadron and the Spinward Marches.

Well, in traveller, ships that small generally aren't vaporizing free traders outright with a handfull of turret weapons. It depends which system you're using of course (Classic, High guard, Megatraveller, Mongoose Traveller, D20, GURPS). The above ship -would- be carrying a compliment of vargr troopers for boarding action - Though with the lack of organization in most corsair outfits, main crew is just as likely to take part if it'll net them some charisma in the eyes of their colleagues.
Our vessel above is relatively small, fast, meant to work in conjunction with at least one other ship - usually a hauler on silent running, waiting for the go-ahead to intercept a wounded target to transfer cargo - Not all corsair raids result in the destruction of the target ship - a few enterprising bands will merely racketeer a percentage of the cargo of a smaller ship, holding it at gunpoint until 'business' is completed. These pirates know that too aggressive a policy will either wipe out all trade in an area as merchants give up the trade routes altogether, or worse in their eyes, bring down the wrath of a nearby interstellar navy. Trade -can't- exist in the Extents at the levels it does if every corsair band destroys their targets. Likewise, piracy would never maintain its traditional constant burn without a -lot- of merchanters willing to risk a run with little or no escorts.
Mind you, about a third of the corsairs of Gvurrdon sector are paid 'protection' money so basically double as system defense, customs, patrol, etc. Our captain above may just be pulling a more 'legit' shift for his extended pack.
Note also that the ship, while streamlined, isn't really designed to land on a dry surface. Maintenance must be done at an orbital facility, or while the ship is half submerged in a body of water. Cargo is handled through clamshell doors in the middle of the back of the main body. Maneuver drives (reactionless in all versions of Traveller except New Era) are aligned either side of the door.
