If only we could make good wishes and have a mutual trust relationship. I remember a story I read once involving a young man who found a Genie bottle. He rubbed it and the Genie appeared, but here's the twist. The bottle or lamp or whatever is like a doorbell the genie is forced to answer rather than being stuck in it. Anyways, the man makes a simple wish that could easily be turned against him and then trusted the Genie since he knew the Genie could just out think any limitations he put on him. So in the end ... well, you'd have to read it yourself. It's in the Transformation Story Archives.
I wish I could, but it's been too long since I last went through the TSA. I can only remember what happened in said story. Sorry. I think it was in the mythical creatures section though. Not positive, but I think that would be the place. Either way it's a good point to start. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful to you in your search for it.
