Nei'chelle concludes her explanation by going briefly into the concept of fanart. One thing she didn't explain was that the characters get "notification" of pics drawn of them, either as gifts/fanart or art trades.

The characters involved will get to "see" how they've been drawn, and be suitably affected by the attention paid to them. In the future, such pics will also be displayed in the comic if they're reasonably close in ability to my artwork.

Oh yeah, here's where the cameo offer appears in the comic. Until someone is shown taking the sign down, or it is shown otherwise disappearing/stolen/blown away, the invitation should be considered to still be in effect.
