"How importantly does the question regarding which kind of gendered person you're attracted to factor into your self-image?"
Maybe it's less about self-image and maybe it's more about accurate use of terminology. Right now I'm questioning if it really counts as "attracted to all genders/gender identities" (omnisexual's meaning) if gender factors into how my attraction so much that someone without a gender may not appeal to me in that way. Does that still count as "attracted to all genders"? Kind of yeah. Does it count as "attracted to all gender identities"? No. And I am not going to go around calling myself omnisexual if it turns out I'm using the word wrong. That's why I'm questioning it so much.
On the other hand, self-image is a part of it that can't be ignored. As seen in a previous comic, I was very dissatisfied with the identities bisexual or pansexual. I wasn't happy identifying as those two because they both didn't quite adequately describe my experience with attraction. That was a self-image matter, I can't deny that.
"When I'm attracted to a person, I'll just be attracted to them, and I don't really consider gender in this."
That description sounds similar to the definition for pansexual: attracted to people regardless of their gender — gender doesn't factor in. That sounds very alike to what you describe when you say you don't consider gender when you're attracted to folks.
