As time went on since the day I put on the bracelets, I've grown more used to living with their curse as well as the spirits within them. At first it was overwhelming, having all of those voices clamoring to be first in line to possess yours truly. The idea of surrendering my body for ghosts to use for unknown purposes and undetermined lengths of time was a terrifying prospect too, but I knew I wouldn't be able to hold them forever. Eirtr had a chat with me about this before. He wasn't particularly polite about it either, but over time I became convinced that he was probably correct and that I should allow them all to possess me once in a while, rather than wait for them to eventually force their way through and resent me for it.
I started to let the spirits possess me more freely from there, starting with the ones I thought were the friendliest towards me. Shortly after that, possessions became a lot less frightening, but I'm always slightly worried because I'm not sure what happens during the time I'm completely possessed. Nyx tells me that I seem to fall asleep, and that my body is completely transformed into the Pokémon that is possessing me. It's almost like we're switching places. I become the ghostly spirit, and they take my place as the living creature, and the body becomes a Jolteon, or an Espeon, or whatever. We have taken to calling this method "Full Possession." I get the idea, but it's still difficult for me to wrap my head around it, the fact that I just stop existing for a brief period of time while they take my place. If we really are switching places, does that mean I am technically dead whenever they do this? It isn't something I like to think about too much.
Then we discovered another means of possession, where I am aware and still have some degree of control over myself, but my body is altered and takes on attributes of the Pokémon possessing me. In this state, the spirit and I are sharing the same body and mind; two entities inhabiting a single vessel. However, it requires us to cooperate and be in sync on a certain level. If we vehemently disagree on something, it seems to end the possession prematurely, and I become exhausted. We now call this method "Half Possession" or "Hybrid Possession," and I have to admit that a small part of myself is beginning to enjoy them. It's hard to describe the exact sensation, but with the spirit's help I am incredibly powerful and unlike any other Pokémon that walks this earth. My body feels like it is dancing on puppet strings, but the spirit is the one directing it to do what I want. Needless to say, it is quite the unique experience, and I greatly prefer it over complete possession.
Sadly, I don't always have say in which type of possession we do. Opposed to me, the spirits seem to prefer full possession because they feel more alive and like their original selves that way. They're concerned that I would barely or never let them do full possessions if I had my way, and I guess that's fair. The nice thing though, is that ever since I let the spirits possess me more often, they've stopped pestering me for the chance to do so. Lately, I've agreed to let them possess me completely whenever I go to sleep naturally, as I don't seem to lose any rest as long as they don't do anything too strenuous. I assume this means that every night I am basically sleepwalking, except that it's not me, but one of the spirits alive and going around doing who knows what: Taking strolls through the town or the woods, enjoying all the food and drink they want, or maybe even mingling with other Pokémon. I've already had one friend excitedly tell me that they spotted, "The most beautiful shiny Umbreon I've ever seen. She was stunning and just perfect, and she wore four golden bracelets that were nearly identical to yours," and then asked if I knew her. Apparently, Nyx already has a crowd of admirers hoping for her to be in town again soon.
I suspect that this curse of mine won't be able to be kept a secret from public knowledge for much longer.
