“Have I mentioned how much I hate quicksand?
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I have,… it just pops up where I least expect it, and always manages to ruin my day. It can really get on my nerves at times,… not to mention, all the villains and monster I handle every day on my island, and yet quicksand and mud manage to trip me up so easily,…” *Grumbles*

“For Dethmetal, my take on his jungle warrior character Ember, up to her thighs in sandy quicksand, looking down in anger and annoyance as if to say "Not this crap again!" One can only succumb to the sinking sands so many times before they grow tired of it, mentally and physically.” -Hefess.

With the Betilla series at an end I figured it was about time I gave Ember a try in Hefess’s unique style. I must say, I am really pleased with his rendition of her, she looks quite good in his cartoony style, while his attention to her details is quite impressive, like all the little nicks in the leaves, and how he noticed the strip underneath the flowers on her belt, as seen in Toughset’s reference for her,… some artists tend to miss that. I love how her hair is bunched up and spread out behind her, and her expression is just great,… she certainly doesn’t not look happy,… and a fearful expression simply doesn’t suit her. And of course, the jungle quicksand she finds herself in is very nicely done, I love the impression of thickness it gives, with the rolling surface and those thick bubbles, and of course those marvelous sink lines of his, hugging around her lovely thighs.
I must say, the colors really bring out so much in this piece,… the deep black and bright red of her hair, the tanned tropical skin, the vibrant green of her leaves. I also love how the red in her hair is spread as her hair spreads on the surface, and the shine off of the spear head, it really gives that obsidian feel to it. The quicksand has a marvelous sandy, yet gooey, look to it, and the colors really bring that out, enhancing the rippling, rolling motion of the surface.
A very impressive depiction of Ember, it really came out great. :)
