I do 4:3.... hekuva lot more vertical resolution than a widescreen.

I've always thought that if one was purely after vertical resolution one could just change the orientation of a 16:9 monitor's frame from one direction to the other - then again, I'm still using ancient 17" CRTs o_O (Eventually I'll upgrade to 24" widescreens as they're a godsend with DAW software). Out of curiosity though, what kind of applications would benefit from more vertical resolution?

Ahhh, I can definitely see the use there. DAWs (digital Audio workstations) tend to go horizontal with everything, hence why I can't wait to switch from these old Nanao's to 24" widescreen LCDs.
