How'd they get so huge? They get in the way of everything!

Pen is an Androgynous Presenting 3'6" "They" with a smock-like decoration that grows from them derived from a "Skirt" that some species of mushroom have. They can pull off the frocks but it's technically part of their body.
We started joking around on Sunday over what would happen if our bard accidentally used "plant growth" too close to them or if they had "Enlarge" used on them.
Their Homebrew Species, a type of Mushroom Person, is considered both a Plant and a Humanoid.

"Plant Growth" is a spell in which the caster chooses a point within their range of sight and all plants within a 100ft radius become "thick and overgrown"

So... it's been decided Pen would become "Thicc and Overgrown", *everything* included. Please don't lift the skirt.

If the spell was used as an instant, this change would happen instantly and it would be a fairly "easy" fix.
Pen has a quirk that allows them to regenerate/regrow everything as long as their head is intact after a long rest as long as they've been watered. So all they'd have to do is ditch the Dysphoria causing body and have a party member make sure they didn't get squished during the long rest.
This quirk is rather useful for potion making and food for the other players as they can just remove their cap(This doesn't hurt), make some potions, make some dinner, down a glass of water and take a long rest to grow it back.

However if the spell was used as a Ritual *instead* this would pose problems for the character. The ritual version "enriches" the land for a year, so while the change would take place over a couple of days, they would find that over the next year, getting rid of all the 'Extra mushroom" isn't going to happen, as it would all grow back to the "day 5" state after a long rest.
In addition, without removing the newfound "additions" to their chest, each new day would find them growing larger and harder to manage.
This would continue until the spell wore off, after a year.

Our DM seems to like this joke that's been drawn so I think they might be planning to use this against me in the future. xD
