alright so the artificer class can go two very different ways depending on your game master.
if your gm is greedy on magic items you suddenly ruin his world's equipment economy and make lloot almost irrelevent, bringing unfathomable power to your whole team or
your gm is generous with those and you become... a walking pile of loot that serves no real purpose...

either it can be quite fun to play, including the alchemist subclass which is a more supporty version.
