Lord Gallant and his son stood before Sir Richard as he bowed down onto one knee. Gallant pulled out his sword as the ceremony began. It was very sudden, usually these events take weeks of preparation but today was a special case. Sir Richard had just saved his son's life.
His son, Harold, was never knight material but he was very clever and inventive. At the age of 8 he made his own makeshift slide down the grand staircase. Looking back at the memory made him chuckle. Harold always got into trouble like that but his most escapade was too close to call.
It was a clear day but also windy and Harold wanted to try out his new hand glider. He jumped out of the castle's highest tower and managed to catch some air. He was up for a long time but the wind picked and he lost control. Lord Gallant could do nothing but watch in horror as Harold was being found about in the air and then the worst happened. Harold fell.
The world went into slow motion as Harold fell through the sky. Dozens of thoughts and emotions went through Lord Gallant's head as he saw his youngest son fall to his inevitable death. That was until a streak of orange shot by and caught Harold moments before hitting the ground.
That was only an hour ago and Lord Gallant was still shaking from the emotions that rushed through him but he was able to keep himself steady enough to place his sword on Richard's sword as he made him an honorary resident of his castle.
"You are more than welcome to stay for as long as you need Sir Richard. You will always have a room here" Lord Gallant said as Richard stood up.
"You are very kind my lord" Richard replied.
"It's the least I can do after you saved my son's life"
"Yes. Thank you" Harold piped up "I don't think I'll be flying again anytime soon". The three of them chuckled.
"Well practice makes perfect." Richard responded "When I first flew I nearly crashed into a cliff. I didn't know how to turn". The three began laughing again.
"My goodness. I never knew you were a joker Sir Richard." Lord Gallant chuckled.
"Well one can't be serious all the time. Sometimes you have to let yourself be at ease"
"Well said now, I have asked the kitchens to provide a feast for us tonight. I hope you like first potato and chicken"
"You've read my mind my lord. They are my favourite"
