Decided to turn my scruffy character concepts into something a bit more legible and swish now I'm at my PC. Also gave me the opportunity to fix some errors.
Here we have Krystal from Universe 2.0 of this whole Star Fox multiverse I'm crafting from the disparate endings of Star Fox Command.
Actually committed somewhat to giving her a family background on Cerinia, so you know this is pure fanfic XD.

Not every culture in our species has surnames so there is nothing to say that Krystal, as an alien Vixon, even had one. It’s possible that she adopted whatever Randorn’s surname was but since she wasn’t his biological daughter that still might not be the case (that and we do not have a canon surname for her).
The fact that her origins are based on the Dinosaur Planet material for Planet Animus, and the fact she wields a magical staff before joining Star Fox kinda indicates to me that was what her society was like too.
I wouldn’t call it primitive just because they are perhaps less technological but I do not think they were necessarily space-faring because it would make wiping out her whole culture rather difficult and we would expect there to be more Cerinians out there, albeit as refugees.
In all honesty, though, I just find it more interesting than just having Cerinia be a clone of Corneria only with some magic crystals and less clothing.

Cerinia the Lost Empire, yeah :P
She’s a telepath with a magic staff powered by crystals. It’s in the games, as much as you clearly prefer otherwise. Star Fox has always combined fantasy and sci-fi in its setting so I don’t see it as too much of a stretch of the imagination for Cerinia to be more of the mystical Eldar-like persuasion. We know next to nothing else besides what evidence Krystal provides and what Rare originally intended for DP.
At this point it just feels like you’re criticising my stuff for not being enough of an Alternate Universe for your tastes.

Tbh same. Especially since Drakor was a more interesting villain.
Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot that they could change for the better if they rebooted the series, but a degree of Clarke’ Third Law in regards to Cerinia is one thing I’d miss if they just made her home planet exactly like Corneria.
She might as well just be a blue fox from the Lylat system that crash-landed on Sauria if they did that. It’s simply less interesting to me.

It isn’t stupid. There is a vast Galaxy out there and advanced technology that appears almost magical is a standby of science fiction. All it does is betray a lack of imagination on your part.
The stuff in Dinosaur Planet painted Animus as tribal with the war between the Wolvens and the Vixons, but it was by no means primitive. It’s possible they used portals rather than space craft or all manner of other advanced technology making use of unique minerals and sources of power.
Making it significantly different to Corneria makes it unique.

Because those things are not mutually exclusive.
Nor did I say it was 100% magical, and tribal could refer to nations or factions or different species that are independent of each other.
At no point have I said that I picture Cerinia as being exactly like Sauria, but the fact that Krystal is dressed as she is and makes use of a staff powered by magical/ advanced technological means, rather paints that her culture must be somewhat different to Corneria.
Not by too much as then I doubt she’d fit in with the rest of Team Star Fox, but then we’d need to explain how an advanced civilisation with space travel was destroyed (possibly by Andross).
This is all speculation and the fact you simply dismiss an idea without exploring the possibilities based on what we know of the setting and what makes logical sense by just calling it ‘stupid’ makes me think you are being unimaginative.

… Because dinosaurs don’t wear clothes like hers apart from, at most, the Sharpclaws, whom she is not really on familiar terms with.
There is nothing to say Cerinia was magical, non magical, space faring or primitive. We know nothing about the place apart from it being Krystal’s home and it being doomed, so we have to work with what we know about her: her jewellery, her tattoos, her telepathy and her choice in clothing and fighting style.
If we look into what Rare had planned before DP became Adventures, Animus/Cerinia was a place of magic, tribes, knights and wizards so using that as a framework feels more true to what was intended than just deciding it should be exactly like Corneria.
This may not be what Nintendo had in mind when they made DP part of the Star Fox universe, or has in mind should they opt to explore it in future, but it’s the closest we have to work from.
You are welcome to decide it should be otherwise, but I am basing my ideas on what source material we have. Anything else and I might as well just make up my own characters and setting because there is plenty in Star Fox that makes less sense than an alien fox girl being somewhat alien.
