As a macrophile, I'm ashamed to admit I hadn't thought of my own kaiju character. Now I figured I could use something to help me learn more about drawing and branch into a field of writing I rarely do. That's right, I'm talking about good old-fashioned Godzilla-esque stinky macro shenanigans.
But I didn't want to do just any kind of kaiju. Anyone can make a 400-foot-tall [insert_species_here] and give them a thirst for wanton destruction. I want a kaiju with a quirky personality and a story with proper substance and conflict - if anything as a challenge to myself - with the chaos they bring as a hearty supplement rather than a main feature. So I'm going the route of an alien meckaiju... and that's as far as I'm willing to indulge for now. :D
These doodles I did a while back serve as a general idea of what I'm trying to aim for as far as the head design is concerned, something that I feel is going to be far more important than the rest of the skeleton. What I wanted to show was a curved visor screen where the facial expressions would take place, a unique horn/antenna shape, and possible ideas for ear shapes and placements. I certainly don't claim to be an S-tier artist, but I at least consider myself competent enough to get my point across. Hopefully I've done just that.
Let me know what you think of this. It's something I don't see being done very often.
