The Quasar Class Starship was originally conceived as the Gallaxy II Class, and might yet be renamed that. It combines many of the best features of captial ships in the service of other Alpha Quadrant powers, as well as the most advanced Federation technologies. Two prototypes have been built, of which only one is sufficiently near completion that trials are scheduled for the near future. It is hoped that a fleet of some 24 Quasar Class ships will redress any remaining imbalance in the Federation's abillity to "project force" anywhere the Quadrant and beyond.
