I got another piece from
5thSun, I refuse to explain myself, her art is amazing and she brings Sakara and Kuveli to life so vividly!
Sakara and Kuveli dancing at a ritual to the Great Horse Mother, Äituri, thanking her for sacrificing her children to save the Lentavohi from destruction. The sun is beginning to dip below the horizon, but the night is still young, and Sakara has been drinking more fermented horse milk than he'd like to admit. Even Kuveli's been partaking, under the reasonably responsible gaze of his inhibited older brother, who is probably regretting those mushrooms he threw into the mix.
Thankfully five minutes behind one of the Lavvu and he's straight back to dancing, whipping horse tails through the air and shaking his hoof rattle. They invoke the spirits of the first Lentavohi horses, who carried the tribe to safety, away from the clutches of a long, forgotten evil. Don't worry though, the horsehide cloaks and horse-hoof rattle are made from wild horses, a Lentavohi would never bring harm to their own mounts, a horse is like family to them, each bringing a unique personality. The Lentavohi will dance until their feet are blistered and sing until they lose their voices, just like their displaced ancestors looking for a new home.
No little vignette or short story this time, I'm afraid, but I assure you there is a good reason. The above scene is going to be integrated into an upcoming longer piece, continuing on from "The Wicker Man" and "A Funeral for A Horse." It'll be along in time, I may have decided to rewrite the whole damn thing after getting over ten-thousand words in, because I'm a useless lunatic.
Thanks again to
5thSun for doing this amazing piece. Both myself and Suns are members of
fireside.cooperative so please go follow us there for early access to Fireside events that the two of us, and more, will be partaking in.
If you enjoy my other literary scribbling, I'm ecstatic to announce that a vignette of mine was accepted and published on The Voice of Dog, I implore you to serenade yourselves in the voice of Khaki, who I'm grateful to for accepting my work.
