Another Krazy Kat sort of day. This one with a character who was not one of the regular cast. Krazy Kat is of course, famous-to-comic-strip-nerds. The sheep, though? I don't know that we ever see them again. So here's a redraw of the first panel for the 29th of October, 1942. Check my work at https://www.comicskingdom.com/share.....0-380b83ea2228 if you like. The joke is Krazy Kat figuring something's odd that you can't get a yard-wide bolt of wool off a sheep that small. (In the third panel the sheep is bragging about 'ne plus ultra', that there's no finer wool to be had.) Also that, especially if you study the second panel, I think George Herriman was just using a quadruped dog model that he had lying around and put some clouds around it.
I used ArtRage's ``Technical Pen'' for most of this, as opposed to the pen I put together to simulate Walt Kelly's brush. I need to experiment to find something closer to Herriman's pen if I'm going to do more of this.
