I experienced endless storms on a dark and restless sea that made me almost forget the sun or how it felt to be actually dry. I witnessed mountains erupt in an ear shattering explosion, spewing the contents of hell itself to the surface. I saw armies of kingdoms clash in bloody battle that turned the rivers scarlet red and the sky black as night as it filled with countless crows, waiting for their time to feast.
Yet all these events are overshadowed, yes seem almost trifling, by the deeply unsettling experience of watching two ancient reptiles, both bigger than a barn, having a disagreement over the price of a wagon filled with exotic spices.

This piece is so precious to me for many different reason.
First that it involves the awesome swamp lizard merchant of a dear friend of mine, namely sixsydes (thanks a bunch for becoming part of this picture).
Second that it's just once again a fucking masterpiece in storytelling, setting and composition made possible by one of my favorite artists halybs who is such a blast to work with and extremely talented in making ideas come to life in the most spectacular way.
And last but not least that it finally made Tarkus' clan of Kobolds canon. And they are not only red, but also incredibly adorable! I mean look at the bunch! >_>
I just love everything about this picture. There's so much to see, so many subtle details and the way it's composed, turning the massive negotiating lizards into background, while not giving too much focus to the Kobolds, is just amazing. It seems so alive and busy and just wonderful.
Easily one of my favorite pieces of art

Yes. Essyx is such a cold business lizard. I bet he's just playing Tarkus. He'll let him huff and puff and then he'll give him the discount that he already calculated into this transactions way before this meeting. Making it look like that Tarkus got the better end of this deal.
He's way too clever.

I totally agree with what you said - visual storytelling is one of the greatest uses of art and this is pretty much a perfect example. It tells an entire story without saying a spoken word. I long to see more of such pieces around, each with their unique setting and inspired by an attention-capturing idea. :D
Also, you might not be getting the best of deals, looking at the expression of your vendor...

Halybs is absolutely fantastic to work with in that regard. Absolute S-Tier artist.
Yeah. But Essyx is a very experienced trader, so he'll of curse give in to Tarkus' demands end give him a discount. A discount that he probably already calculated into the price.
Always make your client think that he ended up with the better end of the deal :D

Wow looks like pretty much like aggressive nagotiations. xD But I totally agree with you about the wonderful composition of this pic.
Everything about it tells a great story, without even understanding the deep lore behind it, the idea comes across immediately. ^^ So great to see both big lizards together!
