Shiro has always had a hero complex, though that is because his own past was full of hardships which made him want to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Yori checks everything Shiro stands to protect. Dedicating his life to his lost cause of keeping Yori safe, that naturally turns into a love for the rabbit. Sleeping together with Yori tucked into his chest is just something that manifests from that love. He sleeps easier feeling that fluff underneath him. He doesn't regret his decision, despite what others may think, perhaps it's insanity by its very definition, protecting a loud, obnoxious mammal like Yori who always gets into trouble. It's the fact Yori is always there now that makes all of that stuff insignificant. The dragon holds Yori close because losing this feeling inside is too scary to face.
