"I'd like to see the stargazers try to clip my FISTS!"
Starbound is a strange game, and a case study in overuse of procedural content generation. Yet, once in a blue moon, it really does pop up with something truly unexpected and outright hilarious. This character was a random NPC guard assigned to me on an unremarkable rescue mission, just standard fare - except one minor detail. Apparently she just forgot how to guns the moment we came up against an enemy monster, and simply couldn't fire a single shot while it built up its charge and came stampeding towards her. Instead of giving up hope, she dropped the gun and proceeded to hammer the thing into oblivion with her own bare fists. As far as I know, she never equipped a firearm again. She literally punched her way through an entire avian temple - guards, bounty target, and all - ultimately doing most of the quest for me while I just followed the path of sheer destruction in bemusement. Obviously, when she asked to join my crew after the fact, I couldn't refuse. Several tiers and several (mediocre) storyline quests later, she's torn through planets of everything from minor quest delinquents to battle-hardened murderers and alien nightmares with nothing more than a pair of tazer gloves and a few well-timed heals, and she just refuses to go down. Though the rest of the universe may fall to its plague of erchius-hungry terrors, her name will carry on in legend - Xatua, the lightning fist!
