When my friend Steven Scharff showed me his collection of back issues of the 'funny animal' APAzine "Rowrbrazzle" (back in the mid-1980s), I was amazed by the diversity of artists and their characters within its pages.
One of those talented artists was
RGibson, whose serialized graphic novel ".357" had me spellbound. Her character 'Jack Salem' was the most handsomest and most disturbing villain I've seen in all my years of 'furry fandom'! (Naturally, I went out and bought two copies of the comic book version of ",357", when it was published.)
I would eventually see more of her artwork in another popular anthropomorphic APAzine, "Huzzah!" - which, sadly, fell to the wayside, along with other 'zines of its ilk (e.g. "YARF!", "Gallery", "Bestiary", etc.).
Needless to say, when I'd joined "Rowrbrazzle" in the late 1980s, I began to correspond (via 'snail-mail') with many of the APAzine's contributors, especially RGibson. You can easily imagine my surprise and delight (many years later) when I'd learned of her association with "Fur Affinity", long after I'd joined the website in late 2007.
But, to my knowledge, I think we'd only met on one occasion, and that was at "AnthroCon 1999" in Valley Forge, PA. At the time, she was working on a new serial for "Huzzah!" which introduced its reader to a sort of 'John Smith' feline character. (He would eventually be named 'Kyri'.) And while most of her fans at "AC" were requesting a drawing of 'Jack Salem' from her, I cut her a break, and asked for this bobcat/lynx character instead. (The fact that I draw a bobcat myself was only part of the reason for my request.)
NOTE: RGibson drew 'Kyri' in my big black sketchbook in pencil, so I had to use my Paint.Net program to darken the lines; otherwise, this feline might as well be as invisible as 'The Cheshire Cat'!
If you wish to see more incredible imagery from her, visit her "FA" site at:

P.S. "Rowrbrazzle" is still clinging to life, as one of the oldest 'funny animal' APAzines around!
