Part of the challenge of being an Asari in a human or human-sized anthro based world is the fact that Asari generally don't grow much taller than a meter tall, even at adulthood. The wings add some height, sure, but those aren't useful for actually interacting with people normally. Everything is too big, people think you're younger than you are, you can't reach the top or even the middle shelves easily. This in addition to other issues, like not being able to drink from cups easily, people thinking you're a cannibal due to eating chicken or chicken byproducts, showers being way too wet for you, molting, not being able to wear shoes in places that require it, being unable to disarm your 'weapons' for other places... really, its just a challenge in a lot of ways. So it's no wonder these two find interesting ways to deal with challenges and get a bit sore with other people when they don't think about the challenges involved.
Here Nathan and Dawn are trying to reach a shelf to get something while out shopping, and as you can see, it's not going too well. They're trying, but physics and biology have formed an impenetrable wall to keep them from getting what they're after. Hopefully someone will help them out a bit, and won't think they're children.

Even if it's too tight a space to fly up-- which is a little hard for me to believe considering most grocery aisles are more than a meter wide-- you could try climbing the shelves. Those taloned hands and feet are great for gripping, and how heavy can you be if you're built for flight?
As a retail worker myself I can attest to that. With how much stuff is on shelves, they can actually rock back and forth quite a bit if they're even just slightly nudged, knocking stuff off/potentially breaking stuff. Although, from what I understand, birds, even at your size, should be fairly light still, possibly under 30 pounds if my own weight is anything to go by. I personally wouldn't recommend doing it, but if you can't find anyone to help, and you're careful, climb at your own risk, I guess. Of course, I don't have such issues, psychic powers for the win~
