Serena Reference Sheet
Name: SerenaSpecies: DarkraiGender: FemaleType: Dark/FairyAbility: TraceBio: Serena is a Darkrai from a long, forgotten age of the Pokémon world. Centuries ago, she was the shaman of a village of benevolent Darkrai and lived peacefully among them. The village was kept far away from human society in a realm that only Darkrai could travel to using their unique abilities.
Serena is not simply a normal Darkrai, however: she has deep connections to ancient magicks that her ancestors harnessed. She used her powers for the benefit of her village, whether it be protecting the villagers or simply entertaining the younglings with magic tricks.
Sadly, this was not meant to last forever. One fateful night, a spell of hers went awry and endangered the village's safety, and the village elders had Serena executed for witchcraft. Her physical body was destroyed, but her spirit remained, lingering between dimensions for centuries. It wasn't until she met a young Meowstic that she was able to return to the physical world, with a new body and a new society to get accustomed to.
Months passed, and Serena returned to the realm where her village once stood; there was nothing left. The Darkrai species had become a rarity in the world, and as such, there was nowhere else for them to return to. Serena then made it her mission to rebuild her village for a new generation, giving them a safe haven from the humans that want to reduce their numbers. In time, the village was fully restored and housed a new generation of Darkrai, with Serena once again in the position of shaman.
She does venture out of the village quite often, usually to either connect with friends or gather supplies. She's a pacifist, so she heavily avoids combat, but if absolutely necessary, she has more than enough magical power at her disposal to defend herself with.
Powers/Abilities: As a Darkrai, Serena has great power over manipulating the dreams of others, though she prefers to give out pleasant dreams instead of nightmares. By using her magic to augment her abilities, she can ensure that others enjoy their sleep, though she's more than capable of sending her enemies into the realm of nightmares. She's also able to directly travel to the dream world through magical portals, whether on her own or into the dreams of others.
Serena also has many magic spells at her disposal. While she does have common techniques such as basic offensive and defensive spells, the one she uses most often is the ability to restore others' vitality completely; she fills the role of a cleric in most situations. Other spells include levitation, teleportation, telekinesis and even transformation spells, though she tends to save the last one for more casual scenarios.
She's also able to traverse through the shadows with ease, becoming a shadow herself and passing through solid objects such as walls and floors. As a shadow, Serena can distort her body at will, able to trap opponents or create illusions.
Her Dark Void acts similarly to a black hole, having a gravitational pull that doesn't have much of an effect on beings far away from it, but will quickly suck in and incapacitate anyone foolish enough to get within range. It can also act as a portal to a secret dimension that only Serena has access to, if she desires to have it act this way.
Lastly, her non-attack-oriented move set lends her to be more of a support unit for a party. She uses Heal Pulse to heal her fellow companions, Trick Room to gain an advantage in certain circumstances, and Teleport to easily escape from dangerous situations.
All in all, Serena is a valuable asset, whether on the battlefield or just in general.
WHOOF, that was a lot of text, but I think I made a pretty damn good bio for this gal! She's one of my oldest OCs and I thought she could use an overhaul, so here it is! I'm really happy with how this came out, and I hope you all enjoy it as well!
