I imagine that if Suleiman is strong willed like Maru and there'd been a disagreement or Maru perhaps being their usual self might have frustrated Suli a little to get to this point. Though I suppose Maru can also relate to overexerting powers and getting a headache or nosebleed, and as shown they do care in the end.
