My commencement was yesterday; so I'm officially done with my college career (until January when I return to pursuit my Masters, then later my Doctorate) But until then, this is a HUGE accomplishment and I wanted to create something to sort of capture it. The background is indeed an interpretation of my campus; but its a beautiful 1600 acre property focused on the environment and its sustainability- one thing I particularly loved about this institution.
This is also a congratulations to all of those who have also graduated this season; this is a ridiculously huge milestone for us all!

“To laugh often and much;
To win the respect
of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of
honest critics and endure
the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty,
to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better;
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch or a
redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived.
This is the meaning of success.” -Emerson

Well, easy is not the way I would ever describe my college experience. I'm in over $80,000 debt on my own because I was only granted a grand or two in scholarships from the state (cut funding to students nearly everywhere). you really have to dig and roll over to find loans; It wont be an easy process to pay it back- but I dont care. I love school.

Yeah, I can't even get the loans. And the programs I can get loans for...well, I wouldn't be paying back those debts for the rest of my life with the kinds of jobs they'd provide so I can't even begin to want to bother. Culinary school isn't going to exactly bring me in the big bucks...though it will teach me to do something I genuinely enjoy doing at a much better level.
Still. I'm struggling to figure out a way to make it happen.

I know the culinary school near me is not expensive at all (county school) and its once of the best for its art- you should really look into what you may be able to do because what keeps me going inst 'one day I want to make big bucks' (although that would be NICE!) instead 'one day I will get paid doing what I love'
But dont give up :B
But dont give up :B
That is a good point, it's not so much that it's expensive, it's just that culinary school is a hard thing to get a loan for; and I will be living hand to mouth for a long time meanwhile. I am trying to do it to just enjoy it rather than become some famous dude, but, the fame and money couldn't hurt... ;D
And thankya, Arctic. :3

Congradulations. I still have my son and daughter attending St. Marys University here in San Antonio. My wife graduated from SWT, so I am well aware of how difficult this has been. Me? Um, Electronics Tech School (tubes), Computer Tech School (core), Security Police School (USAF.) Nothing important.
Absolutely beautiful art as well, proving that the lady does not need to be sans clothing to be attractive, beautiful and highly desirable.

Well, it just means I get the fun of trying to figure out what the hell I'm going to do with that really expensive piece of paper they're going to give me on Saturday ^_^. Not a lot of call for a political science major in my chosen customer service / hospitality career path!
Again, congratulations!
Again, congratulations!
Wow, first off congratulations girl! **hugs ya** I know first hand how that feels, having just finished my own BA this last May. It is a wonderful accomplishment to be proud of, and I love your interpretation of the campus and college life ;3 It's beautiful, your look and demeanor says it all... now if only I could find that furry campous i'd definitely attend for my MA! **lol**
I may not comment much, but this picture really strikes a chord in me.
it reflects the desire to go to college to learn what one enjoys, which I myself possess, but cannot make do because of some factors.
and the peaceful and serene background helps to reflect that concept even further.
It also shows how any student can study whatever he or she wants without the fear of earning a small income.
put it this way, this option sucks:
"Get good grades, go to a good college, graduate from a course with a degree that allows you to get a kings ransom in salary, OR ELSE.....because you have no other choice!" *whips you and kicks you*
This option is better:
"To do what one loves, even though it is not mainstream, and even if the salary is not impressive, go ahead.....and good luck" *pats you on the shoulder and gives you a four leaf clover*

Here's another thing which gives me hope.....
