a black dog folklore - The black dog is essentially a nocturnal apparition, in some cases a shapeshifter, and is often said to be associated with the Devil or described as a ghost or supernatural hellhound. Its appearance was regarded as a portent of death. It is generally supposed to be larger than a normal dog and often has large glowing eyes. It is sometimes associated with electrical storms (such as Black Shuck's appearance at Bungay, Suffolk- and also with crossroads, places of execution and ancient pathways.-
i wanted to go with a Pitbull- as the blackdog- as they are often misguided spirits as well- seen as portents of doom by some- and protecters of wandering spirits in graveyards by others- and i felt like a black dog that looked like a beat up pit bull would have the right sort of " scary" appearance- even tho its probably more of watchdog- protector- and i liked the idea of it being a domineering protector of souls-
Swampthing-bogbeast-Letiche-Lizardmen - no matter where you go creatures of the murky swamps are told in storys throughtout folklore all over the world- i wanted to give it a gator like body- a shark sort of head- and frog like skin- as most of the swamp creature folkore is fairly diverse- it gave me the chance to play with the idea of a mutated creature that could come in many colors- and being part gator- and gators often beinghunted for their meat/ tails/ i had the bottom of his tail broken off to give them some more character= and the colors vary for the regions they can be found in- it was a fun spooky experiment for me-
